The African Heritage House

Claimed to be the most photographed house in Africa, it was the first house in Africa to be featured in the US Architectural Digest. The African Heritage house is a result of years of work by Alan Donovan who dedicated his life to collecting, promoting and preserving art from Africa. Three stories high, the house can only be visited by appointment only and is situated on Kenya’s picturesque Athi Plains overlooking the Nairobi National Park. The design of the house was inspired by mosques and houses in Mali, Nigeria and Ghana. To view some of the pieces, visit our gallery here.
