Cedi Beads of Ghanna

If you’re on your way to Ghana, make sure you visit the Cedi Bead factory in Ghana’s Eastern region. Glass beads are made from recycled glass bottles. You can buy them in markets and craft shops throughout Ghana, and African craft shops overseas. The craft of making glass beads has a long history in Ghana, they have been used in ceremonies of birth, coming of age, marriage, or death for the past 400 years. The main region producing traditional glass beads today, is in Krobo, Eastern Region in Ghana. If you get a chance to visit the Cedi Bead factory, you can watch the whole bead making process from beginning to end. You can also stay overnight and design your very own beads.
