The Sikh Temple Makindu, 160km outside Nairobi, is a must visit for travellers. Once through the gate you’re greeted by colourful peacocks on plush green grounds reminding you of paradise. Upholding the philosophies of Sikhism, free food and shelter is provided to anyone, donations are encouraged though. Referred to as The Golden Temple of Africa, the Sikh Temple Makindu is one of the most beautiful outside of India. The Sikh Temple is a great place to get spiritual and explore a piece of Kenya’s history.
