South Africa’s National Soccer Stadium, Soccer City, is a spectacle to look at during the day and even a more amazing to see at night. The outside of the stadium is designed to have the appearance of an African pot; with ring of lights running around the bottom of the structure simulating fire underneath the pot and Mosaic cladding of fire and earth colours on the outside. Also known as the calabash nationally and internationally, the stadium won The World’s Best Sports Building in 2010 at the 3rd Annual World Architecture Festival held in Spain.
