The Circular Cromlech at Nabta
One of the world’s oldest known archeo-astronomical devices is located in the Nabta Playa basin, located approximately 800 kilometers south of modern day Cairo or about 100 kilometers west of Abu Simbel in southern Egypt. About 1000 years older than Stonehenge, the device is suspected to be a prehistoric calendar which accurately marked the summer solstice.
