Ladysmith Black Mambazo

Ladysmith Black Mambazo is a male choral group from South Africa that sings in the vocal styles of isicathamiya and mbube. For over 40 years they’ve shared the intricate rhythms and harmonies of their native South African musical traditions with the world and won local and international awards, including three Grammies. They were formed by Joseph Shabalala in 1960 and later became one of South Africa's most prolific recording artists, with their releases receiving gold and platinum disc honours. Their highlights include working with many international artists like Stevie Wonder and Josh Groban; working on multiple adverts and movies including Disney’s Lion King and have performed for Nelson Mandela and the Queen of England. Through their songs they share South African culture and history with the world in a more beautiful and moving manner.


The MAN behind Black Like Me

Herman Mashaba is among South Africa’s first black entrepreneurs who built a thriving business during the gripes of apartheid; he is the man behind the first black-owned  haircare company in South Africa “Black Like Me”. From growing up in a small village in Hammanskraal, he is now one of South Africa’s wealthiest and well-known entrepreneurs. His life story is one of inspiration and survival in the hardest times South Africa has ever faced. Herman also has financial interests in mining, construction and aeronautics.


Sina Gerard

Rwandan Sina Gerard, one of Rwanda’s most famous business men, is a self-made millionaire who made his fortune producing fruit juice, banana wine and his famous “Akabanga” chilli sauce. Gerard trains local farmers and sees potential in Rwanda’s agriculture. He believes in not just financial aid to the poor but in training them and giving them knowledge.


3 Time African Player of the Year

Samuel Eto’o is a Cameroonian footballer who rose to fame playing for big international teams such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan and his national football team ofcourse. He’s achieved so much as a player over the past decade, being African Footballer of the Year 3 times, winning 3 La Liga titles, 2 UEFA Chanpions League titles, 2 Copa del Rey Cups, 2 Spanish Super Cups, 2 African Cup of Nations and 1 Olympic gold medal. What makes Eto’s international success even more inspiring is his ability to overcome the racism he faces in some European countries and still be a top footballer. He inspires future African stars to overcome adversity and become a success no matter what.


Happy 50th to Hakeem Kae-Kazim

One of Africa's most successful film actors who has taken his talent to international waters, but still has time to practice his craft back home. The Nigerian born, English raised South African actor is best known for his warlord movie/series roles in productions such as Hotel Rwanda, 24 and 24:Redemption; but has played many alternate roles on films like X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Pirates of the Caribbean:At World's End, The Librarian and many others. He recently starred in Akin Omotoso's Man on Ground film which is doing very well locally and internationally. He has done countless work to entertain us and we wish him many more birthdays, keep inspiring Africa.
