Please tell us any interesting and positive facts you know about Africa

Africa now is your time

Look around the continent , from cape to cairo and see the diversity that the continent is made up of , the numerous languages , different skin tones , different shapes and sizes of the people and of course the diverse cultures . I believe God took his time when he created africans why? i mean we are so different in appearance and yet the same in behaviour , we all take our different cultures seriously and will go even to extremes to defend them . I thought to my self one day about the vast wealth this question mark shaped continent posseses and i just wondered what God thinks when he sees its people languishing in dire poverty , going from country to country abroad searching for a so called good life , only to find out that their place there is at the bottom . People of africa its now the time to eat our own bread , i mean we bake it but we end up eating the crumbs , why? .The gold, the diamonds , copper , cobalt , platinum, oil , iron , all these come from our majestic continent , so why do we have to wait for the whites to come and tell us what God has already given to us as inhabitants of this beautiful continent . I am challenging each and every african citizen to get up and start owning this continent , every company big or small must be run by an african as long as it is on our soil , if the the whites dont want that , lets start our own because God never declared the other race to be better than the other so why should we say it for ourselves . The discovery of Africa by Africa

Over the years, a lot has been said about Africa and its beauty. What do you really mean by "the beauty of Africa"? Everyone seems to know... even those who have never been to africa. the most misunderstood thing about Africa is where it is. Some will just go to the atlas and show you the second biggest continent of the seven and say "here is africa!"

That is entirely incorrect. the atlas is not the real thing but just a mere representation of what is or 'might' be true. Some would beg to differ and take you to the African continent and say "you are now in Africa!".

That also might be true, but not intirely true. Then an African may come up to you and say "I am Africa!" That might confuse you, but it is the truth. Africa is a place where not just anybody can just visit at any time they feel like, but one they have live in first, in order to be certain of its location.

One might be born in the African continent but still not be an African. One might be born, grow to live, and die outside the African continent and still be more African than a quarter of the African population. Simply because he or she has dicovered Africa.

Africa is not the "big Five", the big five is just group of animals found in this continent. Africa is not the land, the land is just part of this earth situated this side. Africa is not the Black man. The Black man is just the first man to walk on land after the apes and the apeman. Africa is within.

If one can search deeply inside just to find Africa, he will the dicover where Africa is situated. And later when one asks where Africa is, he should then be able to stand tall with pride and say " no need to search far. You have found Africa. Africa is the spirit of Ubuntu. I might not be an African nor look African, but I am Africa!"

A Davos for Africa by Africans

The African Leadership Network (ALN) was launched in 2010 at a gathering in Addis Ababa of 200 of the most dynamic young leaders from 30 African countries. Founded by Acha Leke and Fred Swanicker, their plan was to create a network of the most influential and dynamic leaders in Africa and to provide platforms for these leaders to engage with each other for their own benefit and for the benefit of Africa. They felt it was time to create an African ‘Davos’ - an invitation-only forum for high-impact leaders in Africa and thus the ALN was born. Mandela Freed

On Sunday February 11, 1990 after 27 years in jail, Mr Nelson Mandela walked out of prison a free man. He walked to freedom through the gates of Victor Verster jail near Cape Town, hand in hand with his then wife, Winnie, to meet a waiting crowd of supporters and the ranks of the world's media. He greeted the crowd with a clenched fist salute, then walked back to his car before leaving at the head of a long cavalcade for Cape Town along a route lined with emotional well-wishers.
