Tony O. Elumelu - Banker and Philanthropist

Tony O. Elumelu (born March 22, 1963) is a Nigerian economist, banker, investor and philanthropist and currently the Chairman of Heirs Holdings, an African proprietary investment firm. He is also the founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, an Africa-based and African-funded not-for-profit organisation (NPO) that is dedicated to the promotion and celebration of excellence in business leadership and entrepreneurship across Africa. Elumelu holds the Nigerian national honour, the Commander of the Order of Nigeria (CON). New African magazine recently listed him as one of the 100 most influential people in Africa. Currently pursuing a concept he calls Africapitalism, which is a private sector initiative committed to the economic transformation of Africa through investments and social wealth.


Kipchoge ("Kip") Keino

Kipchoge ("Kip") Keino (born 17 January 1940), chairman of the Kenyan Olympic Committee (KOC), is a retired Kenyan track and field athlete and two-time Olympic gold medalist. Kip Keino was among the first in a long line of successful middle and longdistance runners to come from the country and has helped and inspired many of his fellow countrymen and women to become the athletics force that they are today. In 2012 he was of one of 24 athletes inducted as inaugural members of the International Association of Athletics Federations Hall Of Fame.


Michael Essien

Michael Essien ia a Ghanian footballer who’s best known for playing for Chelsea, Real Madrid and the Ghana national football team. Michael grew up in Awutu Breku in the central region of Ghana where there were very little opportunities in his community for most people to develop to their full potential. When he took up football Michael had to work hard to be recognized by clubs in the big cities and the youth national teams where he got international exposure. Now as an international icon and one of the richest footballers in Africa, Michael wants his story to be one of hope and inspiration to the youth in Ghana and Africa as a whole. He has set up the Michael Essien Foundation, an NGO which is creating opportunities for the underprivileged through projects and activities and providing basic amenities like healthcare equipment to clinics, libraries to schools, public toilets and clean drinking water for the community.


Famous blind singers from Mali

Amadou and Mirriam are singers from Mali who love experimenting with their music. The couple have successfully fused Mali’s traditional music with rock and electro, Egyptian and even Indian sounds and instruments. Amadou and Mirriam met at Bamako’s Institute for the Young and Blind where they discovered their interest in music and their love for each other. A year later they got married. The two are not just doing well in Africa but internationally, in 1986 the couple moved to Côte d'Ivoire and recorded several cassette albums . During this time they met Stevie Wonder, and the duo started playing at festivals around the world.


The richest man in Africa

Aliko Dangote – The richest man in Africa with a networth of $11.2 billion (according to forbes) dollars at age 55. He famously started trading commodities 30 years ago with a business loan from his uncle and went on to build a $15 billion dollar empire in the Dangote Group. The group has interests in sugar refineries, flour milling, salt processing and cement plants in Nigeria, Zambia, Senegal, Tanzania and South Africa.
