The Only Natural Lake in Ghana

Situated in an enormous ancient meteorite crater, Lake Bosumtwe is the only natural lake in Ghana. A popular recreation spot, the Ashanti people of Ghana consider the site sacred, believing that the souls of dead ancestors go to the lake to bid farewell to the god Twi. As a result the lake is surrounded by the shrines of local communities. The Lake is a popular place for swimming and relaxing on the beach.
